VPK

Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) is a state-funded, free three-hour per weekday early learning program designed to prepare children for success in kindergarten. The School District of Lee County utilizes the state VPK funding to provide a full-day, comprehensive PreK program at some Title 1 Elementary Schools. There is no charge for the additional 3 hours provided for the program at these Title 1 Elementary Schools. We also offer a Half-Day and Fee-Based VPK program at two non-Title 1 Elementary Schools. Students enrolled in the SDLC VPK program follow the Elementary School instructional day hours and calendar.

Early Head Start / Head Start

Early Head Start / Head Start is a program of the United States Department of Health and Human Services that provides comprehensive early childhood education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement services to low-income children and families.

Pre-K ESE

The PreK Exceptional Student Education Program offers a variety of program models and options for children from age three through age five who have been identified with developmental delay. The program model is determined at the child's eligibility meeting based on the individual child's needs. In addition, children identified as visually impaired, deaf, or hard of hearing receive services from birth through age two.
